Prorated rent calculator
Moving in or out in the middle of the month? Enter your monthly share and the date to get the rent for the days you actually stay.
The formula
Prorated rent = monthly share × days stayed ÷ days in the month. The move-in day counts as a day stayed; the move-out day doesn’t, like a hotel. The calculator uses the real number of days in the month you pick (28 to 31).
Example: a ₹13,350 share, moving in on 12 October (31 days): 20 days × ₹13,350 ÷ 31 = ₹8,613.
Who pays for the other days?
It depends on what your flat agreed: the outgoing flatmate if they didn’t give notice, or the remaining flatmates if they did. Our guide on moving in or out mid-month covers notice periods, utilities and deposit handovers.
